Ed Robertson grew up in a farming family in Bruneau, Idaho. After high school graduation, Ed quickly left the tractor for a different set of wheels when he got hooked on horses after attending a Ray Hunt Clinic with his good friend, Martin Black. Over the years, he worked on various ranches in both Nevada and California starting colts and learning fine horsemanship skills. Ed was greatly influenced throughout his career by Tom and John Marvel and Tom and Bill Dorrance.
In 2001, Ed had the opportunity to go to work for Madonna Inn Quarter Horses. Alex Madonna and his daughter, Cathie Twisselman, were instrumental in the opportunities that afforded Ed to later succeed in the show arena. In 2005, Ed went out on his own, starting his business, Ed Robertson Performance Horses, concentrating on reined cow horse and cutting disciplines. Ed’s major wins include NRCHA Open Bridle Spectacular Champion on “Pick N Shovel” and the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Intermediate Champion, Stallion Stakes Open and Intermediate Champion and Hackamore Classic Open Reserve Champion with “That CD Rocks”.
Ed currently resides near Paso Robles, California with his wife Vivian and has a thriving horse training business. He continues to show reined cow and cutting horses, start young 2 year old’s and helps the local up and coming kids from the junior and high school rodeo ages on up with their riding and roping skills.
